Calliope mini class-set

The Calliope mini class set is specially designed for primary and secondary schools, workshops and extracurricular group work.

In general, the Calliope mini can be used in a variety of ways and can be expanded with a large number of sensors and actuators.
We have currently developed two class sets with slightly different focuses. Both class sets can of course be used equally well in class, even for different class levels. So it is rather an individual decision of the respective college or the teaching staff which class set is chosen. However, it makes no difference which class set is chosen because the basis is identical for both and the different additional materials are available separately. So you can change one set of classes to another or to your own at any time, according to your needs.

Calliope mini Starterbox
The Calliope mini starter box contains, besides the Calliope mini, a battery holder, 2 AAA batteries, a USB cable, a rubber band and a quick start guide.

Little tip! The enclosed rubber serves to secure the battery holder quickly and easily. This makes it easy to connect it to the Calliope mini and protects the connecting cable.

Class set I
The Calliope mini class set for elementary schools features crocodile clips and LEDs, in addition to handouts for students and teachers. Both are useful for creating interactive prototypes, but most of all, of course, for illustrating circuits and digital signals.
For example, a simple setup with two alligator clips (one at GND, the - pin and one at e.g. pin 2) and an LED (make sure the polarity is correct here - the short leg to minus and the long leg to the alligator clip of pin 2) can be created as an intermediate piece. The LED can now be switched on and off by programming.
The crocodile clips can easily be used as extensions of the touch pins or, for example, hung on conductive fabrics.

Class set II
The class set for secondary schools offers the possibility to develop a plant station. Here, for example, the moisture sensors can be used to check a pot and - as soon as it is determined that the plant in the pot is too dry - water can be added with a pump (or a small container attached to a servo motor). This can also be done (at least with fast growing plants) in combination with the ultrasonic sensor. As soon as a certain growth of the plant has started, more water should be poured etc.
The ultrasonic sensor can also be used for further experiments. Most obviously, for the development of an autonomous vehicle. At Calliope HQ, for example, such a sensor is used to welcome visitors. We use the sensor to monitor the door, and as soon as someone moves through the entrance, the Calliope mini controls a small greeting card module that plays a greeting message. As you can see, a lot is possible and thanks to the grove connectors on the Calliope mini, the sensors can be easily connected with a simple plug.
