A microcontroller with many possibilities!

You will find these components directly on the Calliope mini.

The Calliope mini REV2 has an integrated flash memory.
This allows you to save up to 25 individual programmes on the Calliope mini and use them at any time - without using a smartphone or computer. Find out how it works here: calliope.cc/start

5x5 LED matrix

The red lamps are so-called LEDs ( from the English Light-Emitting Diodes ). They form a 5x5 grid and can be controlled individually.

RGB-Led

The single one below the 5x5 matrix allows the display of countless other colors.

Speaker

With the integrated speaker you can play music or just let it beep - whatever your project needs.
.

Buttons

The A and B buttons to the left and right of the red LEDs are used to make entries. When you press a button, a circuit is closed. The board can detect if only one or both buttons are pressed. A program allows you to determine what happens when you press one or both buttons.

Touch pins

You can connect sensors such as temperature sensors or humidity meters to the pins of the Calliope mini labeled P0, P1 and P2. They are also touch-sensitive, as you know it from touchscreens, for example. You can use the corners marked "+" and "-" to connect a battery using terminals or to output power to keep an LED permanently lit.

Position sensor

The combined component under the A button contains a compass, a motion sensor and an acceleration sensor. These allow the Calliope mini to recognise in which direction and at what speed it is moving.

Light sensor

The light sensor can measure the brightness in the environment.

Temperature sensor

The temperature sensor can measure the temperature in the environment.

Volume sensor

The microphone can act as a sensor to measure the volume in the environment.

Compass

The combined component under the A button contains a compass, a motion sensor and an acceleration sensor. With the help of these, the Calliope mini can tell in which direction and at what speed it is moving.

Radio

You can send signals from one Calliope mini to another via radio and thus pass on messages.

Bluetooth

You don't like cables or want to work with your mini away from the computer? No problem: Via Bluetooth you can connect the board to a smartphone or tablet and transfer data. But it works the other way around too - the mini can trigger certain functions on the smartphone just as you programmed it.

Grove Adapter

Expansion modules can be connected to the two connectors to measure light or color with the Calliope mini, for example. Simply plug in and get started! .

Motor pins

The Calliope mini has a motor connection for two motors (accessible via the six-pin row of pins). This allows the board to be quickly transformed into a robot or a self-propelled car.

Battery connection

Connect the cable of your battery holder to the battery socket. Now you are mobile!

USB port

The USB port on the top of your mini is the easiest way to transfer your own programs. Just connect the board to your computer with a micro-USB cable and you're ready to go!

Processor

The processor in the lower left corner of the mini connects all the functions of your mini. It provides enough processing power for all the ideas and projects you come up with - and for much more!

Status Led

The yellow status light at the top left indicates if anything has happened.

Reset button

The RESET button allows you to reset the Calliope mini to the previously defined start status.
